Q. Do I need to bring my own support staff?
Answer: No; the cost of your holiday includes you being supported 24 hours a day by our experienced Holiday Crew.
Q. What is the staff ratio on the holiday?
Answer: Support provided is a minimum of 2 Holiday Crew on each holiday depending on the needs of the group. We will discuss this with you at the time of booking.
Q. Could I bring my own support if I wanted to?
Answer: Yes, we are able to accommodate a limited number of our holiday guests bringing their own support staff. There will be a charge to bring your own support, this will be 50% of the standard holiday price to cover expenses and the loss of a saleable holiday guest place.
Q: How will you know what support I need throughout my holiday?
Answer: Before you book your holiday, we will send you a ‘Holiday Support Plan’ for you to complete and send back to us. It is simple to fill in and asks you different questions where you can tell us what you can do for yourself, and what you need us to help you with. We will then ensure that you have all the support you need on your holiday.
Q. Will I have my own room?
Answer: All of our holiday prices are based upon shared rooms. A limited number of single rooms can be arranged (subject to availability) subject to a supplement cost.
Q. Will I need spending money?
Answer: Your holiday includes main meals and soft drinks with each (breakfast, lunch and evening meal), daily activities are also included (unless otherwise specified), however if you want to buy gifts, souvenirs or extra snacks for yourself, you will need to bring some spending money with you.
Q. Can I choose what food I eat?
Answer: Before you come on holiday with us we will send you a holiday support plan for you to complete, this includes telling us the foods you like and dislike, we will then ensure your needs are met. The main meal of the day will be eating out with a wide choice of meals available.
Q: What do I need to bring?
Answer: Enough of each of the following
- clothes and footwear for your entire stay, bearing in mind the theme, and time of year
– Toiletries
– Towel, unless we inform you otherwise (bedding is always provided)
– Any adapted aids you might need
– Medication
– Spending money (recommended £10 per day)
– Things for the journey (packed lunch, magazine, music…)
Q: How do I get there?
Answer: The holiday price includes transport from and back to one of our meeting points. You can either catch a train or arrive at this point by car.
If you are making your own way we will provide you with easy to follow directions. Alternatively we do provide a door-to-door service, but this is charged at 40p per mile. The cost of this service can be split between our holiday guests travelling from the same address or area.
Q: What time will I be picked up/ dropped off?
Answer: You will be sent pick up and drop off times in your ‘Holiday Itinerary’ which you will receive approximately 3 weeks before your holiday. We will also ring you the week before your holiday to double check you are happy with the arrangements.
Q: What if I cannot keep up with others in the group?
Answer: Our Holiday Crew will always be aware and respect your needs & abilities. You will be able to enjoy activities at your own pace. We do however ask, for the good of the group and your own enjoyment of the supported holiday that you consider the theme and activities with your holiday of choice at the time of booking.
If you are paying for additional 1-to-1 support during this time you will be able to take every day and activity at your own pace, safe in the knowledge that a Holiday Crew member will support you as you need.
Q: Can you administer my medication during the holiday?
Answer: We can provide you with prompts and reminders to help you with your medication if you need it. You must bring your medication in the form of a prepacked system such as Boots MDS system or a blister pack which has the original label clearly showing your name, dosages and times taken. If you need more than verbal prompts with your medication please tell us when making your booking, and we can arrange this for you at an additional cost.
Q: Can you help me with my personal care during the holiday?
Answer: We can provide you with occasional prompts and reminders to help you with your personal care if you need it. However, if you require additional support with your personal care please tell us when making your booking, and we can arrange this for you at an additional cost.
Q: Is there a minimum age for people attending holidays or taking part in day sessions?
Answer: Yes, we a registered to work with anyone from age eight and up. Unfortunately we're not able to support anyone younger than eight years old.
